According to Utah Highway Patrol Corporal Todd Johnson, the accident occurred at 2:40 p.m. at mile post 10 on State Route 150, also known as Mirror Lake Highway, about six miles east of Kamas.
Patricia Bartholomew, 59, and Ross Bartholomew, 63, died at the scene of the accident. Johnson said the two were on a Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling westbound when they crossed over the center line and hit an oncoming Buick. The two victims died of injuries suffered in the accident.
According to Johnson, the two males in the Buick were uninjured and so far no citations have been issued.
"There is no indication on why they crossed over the centerline into oncoming traffic," he said. "The responding officers made it clear that the Buick stayed in its lane of travel until after the accident."
Patricia Bartholomew worked as the clerk of court for the Utah Supreme Court for 23 years and was described as warm, friendly and respectful person by Chief Justice Matthew Durrant.
In a statement from Durrant's office, he calls her a consummate professional and says she was loved and respected by her colleagues.
Ross Bartholomew served as the tax administration director for Davis County and had worked as the chief deputy treasurer for the county since 1999.
Sections of Mirror Lake Highway were closed for about two hours on Saturday while crews responded to the scene.
