Park City Police Chief Wade Carpenter on Friday accepted a $5,000 grant from USA Network and Comcast as part of a ceremony honoring his involvement in an anti-bullying campaign called Leaders for Life.

Carpenter was among the winners of the Characters Unite Awards. He will be featured in a public-service announcement that will be shown on television and online at charactersunite.com.

The grant money will be put toward the anti-bullying campaign. He was honored at an event at St. Regis Deer Valley. Carpenter was one of 10 winners nationally.

Leaders for Life was started three years ago in response to a case involving a teen in Park City who attempted suicide. The teen indicated he had been bullied repeatedly, Carpenter told The Park Record prior to the Friday event.
