The Utah Chess Association (UCA) will be hosting the Utah Team Chess Championship on Saturday, Sept 22, 2012 at Ecker Hill Middle School beginning at 9:00 a.m. This is the first time the UCA has hosted an event in Park City, and the tournament requires that players combine to make a team of three. These teams will be matched against other teams of three in similar rating categories. Participants need to be members of the United States Chess Federation to play, but the Utah Chess Association can help new players join and will waive the tournament fee. Board of Education meeting
The Park City Board of Education will to hold a regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday, Sept. 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. According to the agenda, board members will discuss summer projects, Park City High School test results, district enrollment, eligibility and qualifications for Board of Education members and board policy development. Local schools can get a chunk of the $1 million Smith's grocery stores are giving away to schools in Utah as part of the "Earn and Learn" program. To enroll and earn rewards for schools, parents must present a letter along with a Smith's rewards card to the cashier. Cashiers will scan the bar code on the letter to link students' schools to customers' rewards card. Enrollment will be valid until July 31st 2013. Parents must re-enroll each year.
