Driver hits bicyclist along Park Avenue

A driver hit a bicyclist along Park Avenue last Sunday, sending the rider to the hospital, the Park City Police Department said.

According to the Police Department, the driver turned right from the 2000 block of Park Avenue into a parking lot as the bicyclist rode by. The vehicle hit the bicyclist. The rider suffered head injuries, the police said.

An ambulance took the bicyclist to the Park City Medical Center. The Police Department did not provide details about the injuries but said the person was conscious and alert when the ambulance left the scene.

The rider is a 46-year-old man from Summit County. The driver is a 52-year-old man from Provo. The police issued a ticket to the driver for failing to yield.

The police took possession of the bicycle to hold it for the rider.
