A 4-year-old boy died on Monday, two days after he was found unconscious in a pool at the Montage Deer Valley, Park City officials said.

Craig Sanchez, who is acting as a City Hall spokesperson regarding the case, identified the boy as Miles Kelly. The family is from Salt Lake City. He was not sure if the family was staying at The Montage.

Sanchez said a 911 call was made at approximately 4 p.m. on Saturday. The Park City Police Department and the Park City Fire District responded. The boy was unconscious when the emergency responders arrived, Sanchez was told.

He said family members or others at the scene were performing CPR as the police and firefighter-paramedics got to the scene. Sanchez said the responders took over and regained a pulse.

A medical helicopter took the boy to Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City. He died at the hospital, Sanchez said. The police said in an online statement the boy was in critical condition at some point after he was flown to the hospital.

The death was classified by the police as a drowning.

Sanchez said he was not sure where the parents were when the boy was in the pool.

A spokesman for The Montage, which is located in the Empire Pass area of Deer Valley, said hotel privacy policies prohibit The Montage from releasing information about the death.

Dan Howard, the hotel's public-relations director, declined to say whether the family was staying at The Montage.

"Our prayers are with the family," Howard said.

Marcus Jackson, the general manager of the hotel, issued a similar statement.

"Our prayers and thoughts are with the family," Jackson said.
