President and CEO of the Park City Chamber/Bureau Bill Malone was elected as the new secretary and treasurer of the Western Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus (WACVB) at the association's annual conference last month in Eugene, Ore. The WACVB is a professional association that serves more than 135 destination marketing organizations in the western United States and provinces of Canada. Those elected to the treasurer position have a history of moving on to the WACVB President postion, Malone said.
"It was an honor," he added. "I am happy to represent Park City in an organization that includes organizations that represent some of the largest tourist destinations in the country." According to the WACVB, other officers elected at the conference include Lorene Palmer, the President and CEO of the Juneau, Alaska Convention & Visitors Bureau, who took office as the new president at the conference; President-elect Jennifer Wesselhoff, the current President and CEO of the Sedona, Arizona Chamber of Commerce Tourism Bureau; and Kathy Smits, the Vice President of International Tourism on the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board who will serve as the organization's past president.
