Deputies responded to a suicide attempt in North Summit and were able to calm the juvenile and transport her to Primary Children's Hospital.
On Saturday, Nov. 17, an unknown suspect allegedly hit a car in Kimball Junction and then left the scene. Witnesses provided the deputy with a vehicle description and license plate number.
Deputies responded to a disturbing the peace call at a Basin-area apartment complex. Once inside the apartment, the deputies smelled marijuana. When asked about it, the tenant's boyfriend admitted to having the drug. Deputies searched and found the marijuana, and the boyfriend was arrested on possession charges.
On Friday, Nov. 16, deputies stopped a vehicle in Western Summit County for illegal lane travel. During contact, deputies noticed an overwhelming car freshener smell. The deputies had both the driver and passenger step out of the vehicle for a canine sniff. The passenger admitted to having an open container of alcohol. A search yielded an open beer, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The driver was arrested and charged for the open container, drug paraphernalia, and traffic offenses.
A Kimball Junction hotel called deputies about a transient man who remained after being asked to leave. Deputies arrived and escorted the man off the property. A records check revealed the man had a warrant. He was arrested for the warrant and trespassing.
Deputies pulled a man over for a headlight violation in West Summit County and discovered the driver had a warrant.
On Thursday, Nov. 15, deputies responded to several auto burglaries and a residential burglary in Kimball Junction apartments. Deputies determined which apartment the suspect had gone to, and attempted to make contact. The suspects were not there, but several stolen items and physical evidence was collected.
A man was cited after admitting to shoplifting in a Kimball Junction store. The suspect had a two-year-old with him. The case is being referred to the Department of Family and Child Services.
Deputies stopped a vehicle on I-80 for speeding and found a $5,000 warrant for theft. The driver was arrested.
Deputies stopped a vehicle for illegal lane travel and detected a marijuana odor. The canine was deployed and indicated on the vehicle. Deputies searched the vehicle and found 12 grams of marijuana and marijuana brownies.
Deputies arrived at a Kimball Junction apartment for the second time for a verbal family fight. The male was placed under arrest for intoxication. The female charged toward the arresting officer and attempted to jump on his back. She was arrested for intoxication and interfering with arrest.
On Wednesday, Nov. 14, a deputy discovered he had received false information on a traffic accident investigation in North Summit County. Several of the involved parties admitted to lying to the deputy.
Three women were involved in retail theft from several Tanger Outlet stores. A vehicle search revealed $1,425 in merchandise had been taken.
A deputy made contact with three pedestrians in the Kimball Junction area. The deputy noted signs of alcohol for one of the pedestrians, who was under age. After he tested positive for alcohol, the pedestrian was arrested and booked into jail.
An individual was arrested for a domestic violence incident, and was transported to the Summit County Jail.
On Tuesday, Nov. 13, deputies received a report that an unknown suspect had allegedly broken into the complainant's cabin in North Summit sometime between Oct. 7 and Nov. 4 and took numerous items.
A Tanger Outlet ex-employee is being accused of taking $220 in cash and a pair of shoes during a shift last month. The store manager requested charges be filed against the ex-employee.
Deputies responded to a domestic violence call in the Snyderville Basin, but deputies did not determine an assault had occurred.
A deputy pulled a car over in the Kimball Junction area after watching the driver make various traffic violations. The deputy smelled alcohol coming from the vehicle and conducted a standardized field sobriety test. The driver failed the test and was arrested and booked into the Summit County Jail for DUI.
On Monday, Nov. 12, a man came to the Summit County Sheriff's Office to have an officer photograph his juvenile daughter's arm. They had just come from the doctor, where the juvenile arm was placed in a cast due to alleged abuse last Friday.
Deputies investigated the alleged theft of welding lead and other unknown items from an enclosed trailer in the Uintas.
After noticing a driver smoking marijuana on S.R. 224, the vehicle was stopped and a marijuana odor was detected. A vehicle search revealed drug paraphernalia, amphetamine pills and a bottle of marijuana was found in the snow feet away from the passenger door. The passenger had tossed the jar when exiting the vehicle. Both driver and passenger were placed under arrest and booked into the Summit County Jail.
A Snyderville Basin man reported what he believed to be inappropriate behavior of an adult male toward his teenage daughter. The case is under investigation, as of Tuesday.
