Last year, the staff at the Park Silly Sunday Market set their sights on winter and established an event called the Silly Holiday Bazaar, How Bizarre in the Park City High School gymnasium.

Like the Park Silly Sunday Market, which is held on Main Street in the Summer, the Holiday Bazaar featured independent unique vendors, food and fun, said Ryan Cray., media relations coordinator for the Holiday Bazaar.

"Last year was great," Cray said. "Everyone seemed to like it and it was a great way for them to do some holiday shopping."

The Holiday Bazaar, How Bizarre will return to Park City High School on Dec. 1 and Dec. 2.

Cray said the vendors were excited to participate again this year.

"This is a way for them to put holiday spins on their products," she said..

Last year's event featured 95. This year, there are 100.

"They will be selling everything from jewelry, clothing, accessories, gourmet foods, art and a little bit of everything," Cray said. "We've grown a bit."

Most of the participating vendors are from Utah, but there are some who come to Park City from out of state.

"We'll split them up between the two gyms, which will be made up in festive holiday décor.," Cray said.

The Holiday Bazaar will feature PCHS students holding fundraisers for some of their clubs.

"We felt, since we're using their space, they should be allowed to do something for themselves," Cray said.

Since the event is focused on the holidays, there will be an appearance by good ol' St. Nick.

"Santa will be there, so kids can get their photos with him," Cray said. "We're also going to have some other holiday activities, including games and things like that."

In addition to the vendors, Santa, food and activities, there will be live acoustic music performed by members of the Park City High School Choir and Band.

"They will be entertaining us with seasonal music to get everyone in the mood for gift buying and giving," Cray said.

The Holiday Bazaar, How Bizarre was the brainchild of Park Silly Sunday Market co-founder Kimberly Kuehn.

"In the past, people have asked Kim about certain vendors who have appeared at the Silly Market, and how they could get a hold of them," Cray said. "So, we felt it would be a good idea if we held an event in the winter.

"That way people could see their favorite vendors and do some holiday shopping," she said. "The Holiday Bazaar is an opportunity for people to support a small business instead of going to Wal-Mart or other big department stores."

The Holiday Bazaar is also a fundraiser for the Park Silly Sunday Market.

"Last year, we took the money we made during the Holiday Bazaar and put it back into our summer music budget," Cray said. "Thanks to the bigger budget, we were able to book some bigger musical groups, including the March Fourth Marching Bands, to perform during the summer.

"So when people come to support the Holiday Bazaar, How Bizarre, they will help the Park Silly Sunday Market next summer," Cray said.

The Silly Holiday Bazaar, How Bizarre will be held Dec. 1 and Dec. 2, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Park City High School auditorium, 1750 Kearns Blvd. Admission is free. For more information, visit www.parksillysundaymarket.com.
