Someone with library fines may pay up with some food.
The Park City Library is offering its food-for-fines program through Nov. 30, allowing people to help the hungry if they have racked up overdue fines.
The library will forgive $1 or part of $1 for each nonperishable food item someone donates. The program does not include lost or damaged books, though.
Pam Evans, who works at the library's circulation desk, said approximately two boxes of food had been collected through the middle of the week as part of the program.
The items will be donated to the food pantry at the Christian Center of Park City. Approximately nine boxes of food were donated in 2011.
The library wants the food items to be undamaged and not expired. According to the library, the foods most needed are:
