Kimball Art Center: opposition letters ‘premature’

Jay Hamburger THE PARK RECORD

Robin Marrouche, the executive director of the Kimball Art Center, said in an interview the people who wrote letters to City Hall in opposition to the not-for-profit’s expansion idea did so early in the process.

Marrouche noted that the Kimball Art Center has not filed an application seeking the permit it will need before the project is able to commence. The Park City Planning Commission is considering a zoning change that is critical to the Kimball Art Center expansion. Although the change would encompass properties close to the Kimball Art Center as well, the critics have focused almost exclusively on the prospects of an expansion of the art center.

"We haven’t put forth an application yet," Marrouche said, adding, "It’s premature for them to rally against a group of citizens who are trying to talk about community enrichment."

Marrouche said she would like to discuss the project with the people who wrote the letters and would welcome the writers to send letters to the Kimball Art Center itself.

She said the Kimball Art Center has not mobilized its supporters to write letters to City Hall.
