A car passenger was injured during a four-car pileup during Sundance Film Festival's opening weekend.

According to the Sheriff's Report, a pickup truck rear-ended a utility van while traveling at high speed near the intersection of S.R. 224 and Canyons Resort Drive on Saturday, Jan. 19. The van collided with a stopped car in front of it. A small passenger car swerved to avoid hitting the pickup truck, but ended up on the median.

A passenger in the van received non-life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

According to Sheriff's Office Spokesman Sgt. Ron Bridge, the accident is still under investigation and no citations have yet been issued.
