When White recovered on his second run and scored an impressive 97.25 to defeat second-place finisher Scotty Lago by a whopping 3.25 points, no one was surprised.
"He's an amazing rider," Lago said. "You can never count him out. Honestly, it's a battle for second (when White participates)."
Lago won that race for second place, earning a score of 94.00 on his second run to claim silver, beating out Luke Mitrani. Mitrani finished third to complete an all-U.S. podium.
"It was one of the better runs I've ever put down," Lago said. "I couldn't be any happier."
Lago capped off the run by completing a front side double 1260 with a truck driver grab, something he attempted for the first time at the X Games but had never landed in competition.
"It's probably the best feeling in the world when you're riding away knowing you landed the run you wanted to land," he said.
Lago added that he always enjoys competing in Park City.
"Park City has a lot of good memories for me," he said. "This is where we ended up making the Olympic team in 2010."
Now Lago and his U.S. teammates have their sights set on another Olympic Games, this time in Sochi, Russia. An Olympic test event will be held there from Feb. 10 to Feb. 17, 2013.
