Summit County and the City of Coalville is sending out a call for entries for the 2013 to 2014 outdoor public art sculpture gallery, "Summit County Artscape."

This project seeks a variety of artwork that will introduce viewers to artistic approaches from around the country. Coalville is located near Park City and annually entertains thousands visitors at the Summit County Fair and Rodeo.

The Summit County Artscape exhibit is open to all artists who wish to be considered to show their work on Main Street in Coalville from May 13 though April 30, 2014.

The deadline for Artscape submissions is Tuesday, April 30, and up to 8 outdoor sculptures will be selected.

Pieces must be ready to install and sustainable outdoors without maintenance for one year.

New and existing works are eligible.

Transportation of the art is the responsibility of the artist. Works that exhibit a Summit County "sense of place" are encouraged, but not required.

A goal of Artscape is to add at least one piece to the exhibiting municipality’s permanent collection each year.

Coalville City will purchase one piece of sculpture, up to $3,500, out of the accepted entries displayed in this year’s exhibit period. The winner of the People’s Choice Award is chosen through voting held online and with paper ballots. Voting for the 2012-2013 show will be held from April 1 through April 30.

The Summit County Board of Commissioners created the Summit County Public Art Program and Advisory Board in April 2008. The volunteer advisory board facilitates the Artscape submissions and installation process. The mission of the Board is to celebrate and unite Summit County residents through art.
