The team made it to the state semifinals during her senior year in 2003.
Smith thinks this year's Miners squad is every bit as good as that team.
"This is the best team from this high school in 10 years," she said.
Led by seniors Cassidy Chester and Carson Lyman, the Miners have rolled through their first two games of the 2013 campaign, knocking off American Leadership Academy 9-3 on March 8 and earning an 11-2 victory over Altamont on Tuesday.
Tuesday's game saw Chester dominating on the mound and Lyman crushing the ball at the plate, carrying the team to victory.
Chester finished the game with 14 strikeouts and added a double at the plate for good measure. Lyman had two doubles and a home run in an excellent day with the bat.
Smith said she expected nothing less from two of her three team captains.
"Cass pitched a great game," she said. "She's a very mature pitcher and she's a workhorse on the mound."
She added that Lyman always gives her best effort at the plate, no matter who the opposing pitcher might be.
"She is just one of the most relaxed and reliable hitters I've ever seen," she said.
Even with 20 runs scored in two games, Smith said the team will keep striving to improve.
"We could have had more (runs)," she said. "But I'm really happy with where we're at right now."
With several young players making key contributions to the team as well, Smith said the focus for the team is to keep the hot streak going.
"The whole goal for me now is (for those players) to get confidence," she said. "We have a lot of young players filling big roles."
The Miners will have a chance to find stretch their streak this weekend at a tournament in St. George. With two straight days filled with softball, Smith is hoping her players keep it simple on the diamond.
"Having fun and being out in the sun and trusting each other to play ball is what it's all about," she said. "It's about remembering that you can play the game (after a long offseason) and trusting your instincts and skills."
If the Miners can develop great chemistry, Smith is confident this will be a very good season for Park City.
