According to the Sheriff's Report, there was an unattended death in a home west of S.R. 224 on Wednesday, March 20. Sheriff's Capt. Justin Martinez said the death was not suspicious.

Also on Wednesday, an accident occurred at Silver Summit Parkway and Pace Frontage Road. The first vehicle crashed head-on into the side of the second vehicle while turning from Pace Frontage Road. The second vehicle was traveling straight on Silver Summit when it was struck. The driver of the first vehicle was not injured, but the driver of the second vehicle was transported to the Park City Medical Center with minor injuries. The first driver was cited.

A washer, dryer and safe were allegedly taken from a Basin home under construction.

On Monday, March 18, several people reported a vehicle traveling on I-80 in the wrong direction. A deputy was nearly struck by the vehicle, which was located after it had run off the road near mile marker 158. The driver failed the administered field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI and reckless driving.

A motorcycle driver lost control of his bike and rear-ended a car that was turning left onto Bufflehead Drive in the Basin. He had an injured ankle but was not transported to the Park City Medical Center.

On Sunday, March 17, a woman reported her purse was taken from her closet during an estate sale. Inside the purse was a passport, driver's license, credit cards and $400 in cash.

Two juveniles ran away from a North Summit school, but were found by deputies on S.

R. 32 and transported back to school.

On Saturday, March 16, a man shot himself in the foot during target practice on Hoytsville Road.

Deputies pulled a vehicle over on S.R. 224 and determined the driver was impaired. He was arrested for DUI and a warrant for possession of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Summit County Jail.

On Thursday, March 14, a vehicle was stopped on I-80 for lane travel violations. The K-9 used to detect illegal drugs indicated on the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed 35 pounds of marijuana. The driver and passenger were arrested and booked into the Summit County Jail.

A man reported he had been the victim of identity theft. He said someone opened a bank account and attempted to open two other accounts unsuccessfully in his name.

On Tuesday, March 12, a Basin resident reported that the wheels and tires were taken off his or her vehicle. A property manager of the condominium where the vehicle was located also noticed the vehicle, as well as another vehicle parked nearby with the ignition stolen. The latter vehicle was discovered to be stolen from a nearby apartment complex. The owner was unaware of the theft.

A juvenile threatened another juvenile in the Basin with a knife. Several witnesses were interviewed and the knife was taken from the suspect's possession while at school. The suspect was taken into custody and book into juvenile detention on aggravated assault and possession of a dangerous weapon at school.

Also on Tuesday, there was an unattended death in the Basin. An initial investigation was conducted and the body was transported to the state medical examiner's office.

On Monday, March 11, during a routine traffic stop on S.R. 224, the passenger was found to have an active warrant out of Heber. The passenger was taken into custody and turned over to a Heber City Officer at the county line.
