The Marriott chain has reached an agreement to operate Hotel Park City, adding another significant property to a Park City portfolio that will stretch from the slopes, to the links and to Main Street.

Marriott will operate Hotel Park City, located at the municipal Park City Golf Club, through its upscale Autograph Collection, according to a City Hall report released on Monday. It will be the fourth lodging property in Park City operated under the Marriott umbrella. It will be the only Autograph Collection property in Park City, though.

Hotel Park City and Marriott representatives did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment.

The other Marriott properties in Park City are the Marriott MountainSide at Park City Mountain Resort, the Marriott Summit Watch on Main Street and the Park City Marriott in Prospector. Marriott has long been an important player in the Park City lodging industry.

The City Hall report, written by Tom Daley, the deputy city attorney, indicates discussions about Marriott operating the property started several years ago. City Hall owns the golf course pro shop space at Hotel Park City, giving the municipal government a vote in whether to approve the Marriott-Hotel Park City deal. The report by Daley recommends the Park City Council authorize a vote in favor of the agreement. Daley says in the report the agreement with Marriott could boost business.

"Should the number of hotel guests increase, traffic to the pro shop may increase in direct correlation.

Additionally, the presence of Marriott as franchisor of one of its Autograph Collection Hotels could increase municipal sales tax revenue through increased guest volume and higher room rates," Daley says in the report.

The report indicates there is an Aug. 25 deadline for property owners to cast a vote.

Daley said in an interview the agreement is open ended. After five years, though, the deal could be terminated through a majority vote by the ownership of the commercial and residential space at the 100-suite Hotel Park City. He said a change in the name of Hotel Park City is not anticipated.

The Autograph Collection has properties in the United States, Canada, Europe, the Caribbean, South America, Asia, Central American and Australia. The chain's website lists 34 properties in the United States, stretching from New York to California. The other Autograph Collection hotels do not use the Marriott moniker.

There is not another Autograph Collection property in Utah. Smaller resort community locations in the West include Lake Arrowhead, Calif., and Taos, N.M. There are Autograph Collection hotels in cities like New York, Miami Beach, San Francisco, Chicago and Las Vegas. Foreign properties are located in cities like London, Berlin, Rome, Tokyo and Sydney.
