Sheriff’s Report, May 4-6, 2016

A man was arrested in Oakley on Saturday after Summit County dispatch received a report that a vehicle was on fire, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

At around 7:15 p.m., deputies responded to a location on Democrat Alley and found a white Subaru fully engulfed in flames. The man was arrested for an outstanding warrant and on preliminary charges of driving on a suspended license and using plates that are registered to another vehicle. He did not receive any citations relating to the fire and was transported to the Summit County Jail.

According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to numerous other calls between Tuesday, April 26, and Sunday, May 1, including two suspected cases of aggravated assault.

No significant incidents were reported.

Saturday, April 30

A man contacted dispatch claiming a 9mm Smith and Wesson handgun was stolen from his South Summit home two weeks ago. An investigation is ongoing.

A stolen vehicle from Montana was found parked near an Interstate 80 off-ramp in North Summit. Deputies contacted the Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a North Summit home after dispatch was disconnected with someone during an emergency call and determined no crime had occurred.

Friday, April 29

Deputies and a K9 officer assisted the Park City Police Department with a vehicle search in Park City.

Deputies arrested a man at a Basin-area gas station for an outstanding warrant and possession of marijuana, a drug presumed to be methamphetamine and paraphernalia.

Deputies responded to a one-vehicle accident in South Summit involving two men. However, deputies were unable to determine who the driver was and arrested both men on preliminary charges of intoxication and possession of an open container. One of the men was also arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Thursday, April 28

Dispatch received a report of a domestic violence situation between a man and a woman at a North Summit home. When deputies arrived, they did not find any evidence that something physical had occurred. The parties agreed to separate for the night.

After dispatch received a report of a potentially intoxicated driver traveling along State Road 224, deputies found the vehicle wrecked. The driver was arrested on preliminary charges of driving under the influence. He had a blood alcohol level more than four times the legal limit.

A North Summit homeowner contacted dispatch after a man tried to enter his home while selling subscriptions for satellite TV service. The homeowner admitted to chasing the suspect with a club and hitting the right taillight of his van. The suspect then allegedly knocked the complainant down and drove away with the club.

While responding to a hit-and-run accident, deputies determined the victim was providing false information and had filed a false report. The case will be forwarded to the county attorney’s office.

Wednesday, April 27

Dispatch received a report that a man his iPhone had been stolen while he shopping at a Kimball Junction-area business. He later found the phone in the parking lot.

Deputies arrested a man for assault and domestic violence in the presence of a child following an incident with a woman at a Basin-area home.

The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office contacted dispatch after deputies recovered a 2009 Ford pickup truck that was reported stolen from a home in the Basin on April 23. Two men were arrested on preliminary charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and property. An investigation is ongoing.

Tuesday, April 26

Deputies searched for a South Summit man after he pointed a gun at a woman and threatened to kill her. He was located the next day and involuntarily committed to Park City Medical Center. The case will be sent to the county attorney’s office. A rifle and a handgun, along with several magazines and rounds, were confiscated.

Deputies arrested a man at a South Summit home for aggravated assault after he allegedly threatened to shoot his wife.

Deputies responded to a Basin-area home to help keep the peace while a woman removed items from her ex-husband’s home. However, the two disagreed about which items she was allowed to take. Deputies advised them to contact their attorney’s.
