The club will welcome former Mayor of Park City, Dana Williams as the speaker this year.

Williams, who served as mayor from 2002 to 2013, lives in Prospector and has a varied background, which includes a degree from California Polytechnic in horticulture, a career in real estate, an environmental activist and the front man for the local rock band, Motherlode Canyon Band.

His accolades include being honored in 1986 as Summit County Farmer of the Year, and in 1999 Park City Rotary Club’s Citizen of the Year.

Recommended Stories For You

Williams started his first term as Mayor just weeks before the opening ceremonies for the 2002 Winter Olympics.

When he became the official ambassador-in-chief of Park City, Williams continued to lead the city through the post-games development boom, the recession and, later, economic recovery.

He will share stories from his time in office as well as his perspective going forward. The Newcomers Club is currently trying to convince him to play his guitar and sing for the luncheon.

The doors to the luncheon will open at 11 a.m. for attendees to meet, greet, chat and to explore the varied events and activity groups of the Newcomers Club of Greater Park City.

The pre-luncheon hour will include displays by ambassadors from the club’s interest groups that range from tennis to hiking to skiing, mahjong and bridge to gardening, golf, book clubs and the many social activities.

Newcomers annual memberships will also be available for $35.
