Association promotes Kimball Junction

Leah Kolb has a grand vision for the Kimball Junction Business Association.

The association currently has 20 members, but Kolb, the organization’s president, wonders what could be done if that number were to rise to around 100 — which would be about half of the businesses in the area. With that much manpower, she envisions the association being able to better establish Kimball Junction as a primary reason to visit the Park City area.

"We want to promote Kimball Junction as a destination in itself," she said. "We like to view ourselves as the gateway to Park City. bringing these businesses together, we hope we can increase traffic in the area and ultimately have some more events in this area to draw out the crowds."

To attract new members, the association is having a mixer Thursday, Jan. 8. It will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Red Rock Brewery, 1640 Redstone Center Drive, and provide food and drinks. Interested business will be able to pay membership dues at the event.

"We want to say, ‘Hey, here are the benefits to being part of the Kimball Junction Business Association," Kolb said. "You get visibility through our social media, you get a presence on our website, you get to meet with these other businesses. And you get to connect with Summit County and the (Park City Chamber/Bureau). We’re hoping people will come."

The association was started prior to the 2002 Olympics, but Kolb said its influence and membership has ebbed and flowed. She’s hoping the mixer will help it gain more traction heading into the New Year.

"I think in recent years, the area itself has been functioning well," Kolb said. "We want to bring these businesses together to increase communication and collaboration."
