Canyons settles on compensation package for opening day delay

Christopher Kamrani, Of the Record staff

Canyons resort has decided to provide two complimentary day passes as a result of the two-week delay to its opening start to the ski season.

Managing director Mike Goar said the feedback the resort has received since the compensation has been "great" and that Canyons is looking toward potentially its biggest starting date ever.

"We’re hoping it’s the most terrain available ever opened for an opening day," Goar said.

Any season-pass holder silver, gold or platinum is eligible to receive the complimentary passes from Canyons, Goar said.

The season-pass holder must be present to receive the complimentary passes at any Canyons ticket window. Holders are able to redeem passes one at a time or, if they so desire, can receive both.

The passes are valid from Dec. 10-19, 2010 and Jan. 3 through the end of the season in 2011.
