School Community Council is growing in Utah. The first statewide School Community Council Conference will be held Friday, Nov. 9, starting at 3 p.m. at Ecker Hill Middle School. The event was created due to significant interest in giving School Community Council members an opportunity network with members from other districts.

The keynote speaker is Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff, and in addition to the keynote address, the event will include a panel discussion with education leaders from around the state. Breakout sessions will include Model Plans, Parent Engagement, Roles, Compliance, Quality Measures, and Effective Councils and will be taught by presenters including Margret Bird and staff from USOE, Kim Campbell and staff from the Center for the School of the Future at Utah State University, Barbara Smith from the Utah Family Partnership Network and district and school level leaders.

Event registration costs $25 per person and tickets can be purchased at http://utah-ceo-zvents.eventbrite.com/ or on-site on the day of the event. For more information, contact Barbara Smith at bsmith@graniteschools.org or 801-560-6511.
