Main Street will party again this week, just days after the rollicking Sundance Film Festival ended.

The freestyle skiing World Cup at Deer Valley Resort and the U.S. Grand Prix snowboarding and freeskiing competition at Park City Mountain Resort will be staged from the middle of the week until the weekend. The two events, both free, will again put Park City on the winter-sports stage. Both Deer Valley and PCMR have a long history of hosting top-level competitions and both were competition venues during the 2002 Winter Olympics.

A celebration is scheduled on Wednesday on lower Main Street, requiring two street closures. City Hall said Main Street between 7th Street and 9th Street -- the lower section of the street -- will be closed to traffic starting at 6 a.m. on Wednesday. It is scheduled to reopen at 12 a.m. on Thursday. The section of 9th Street between Park Avenue and Deer Valley Drive will be closed at the same time.

A concert by Cold War Kids with Holy Water Buffalo opening is scheduled from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on lower Main Street. A stage will be put up for the event. Fireworks are scheduled afterward.

Deer Valley is encouraging people to take buses to Main Street for the concert and fireworks. Drivers will be allowed to park in the lots outside Snow Park Lodge and take buses to Main Street. There will be regular bus service until almost 2 a.m. and expanded service every 10 minutes between the Old Town transit center and the Snow Park lots until just after the concert.
