Information on the following cases heard in Third District Court was provided by Summit County Prosecuting Attorney Matthew Bates.

Tyler Jeffrey Jones, 35, of Taylorsville, and Brenda Lee Jones, 54, of Salt Lake City, are charged with assault. The charges arose after the two were at a party on the North Shore of Echo Reservoir on July 7 and an argument began between Brenda Jones and another woman. Tyler Jones allegedly attacked the woman, setting off a melee during which both Joneses allegedly assaulted other people at the party.

David Joseph Wickersham, 29, of West Valley City, is charged with felony DUI and other alcohol related traffic offenses. On September 2, 2012, Wickersham was stopped in Summit County on suspicion of driving under the influence. A subsequent breath test revealed that his blood-alcohol content was .09, which is over the legal limit of .08. Wickersham's DUI is enhanced to a felony because he has twice before in the last 10 years been convicted of DUI. The Summit County Attorney's Office only recently filed this case because of significant delays in getting copies of Wickersham's prior convictions from the Tooele County Justice Court.

Wayne Clifton Nixon, 30, of Huntsville, Alabama, is charged with felony drug possession after a Utah Highway Patrol trooper stopped him on July 2, for speeding on Interstate 80 and found five pounds of marijuana in the trunk of Nixon's car.


Michael Stephenson, 46, of Henefer, is charged with a sex offender registry violation for allegedly failing to maintain accurate information in the Utah Sex Offender database about his employment and the vehicles he owns.

Rigoberto Pacheco-Saurez, 28, of West Valley City, is charged with narcotics trafficking after law enforcement officers with the Utah Highway Patrol, the Summit County Sheriff's Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration located Pacheco-Saurez in Summit County on July 16 with more than a pound of methamphetamine in a water cooler in his car.

Ernest Paul Montoya, 66, of Coalville, is charged with drug possession. On July 17, Montoya was arrested on an outstanding warrant and his truck was impounded. During an inventory of his truck before impounding it, a deputy with the Summit County Sheriff's Office found a bag containing some of Montoya's possessions. The bag also contained methamphetamine, a scale, several small baggies, a razor blade and a straw.
