Celebrate Summit County Solar
All Summit County residents who have committed to install solar panels are invited to attend the Summit Community Solar Celebration on Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Park Meadows Country Club, 2000 Park Meadows Drive, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
According to Summit County Sustainability Coordinator Lisa Yoder, the county will be entering 2014 with four times as much solar power than was installed in 2012. She added that homeowners who have installed solar have saved more than 30 percent on the cost of their system and an average of $900 a year for the 25-plus lifetime of their solar installation.
Yoder added that the solar energy that has been installed has negated almost 600,000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions every year.
The celebration will feature light refreshments where residents can meet other Summit Community Solar participants. Summit Community Solar is supported by Utah Clean Energy, Summit County, Park City and the U.S. Department of Energy's Sun Shot Initiative.

Public hearing cancelled
The public hearing that was scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 24, regarding a Conditional Use Permit for an expansion to the Francis Lagoon wastewater treatment system has been cancelled, according to Summit County Community Development Director Pat Putt.
The hearing and possible action for a 10-acre lagoon expansion to the treatment system was set to be the last item on the Eastern Summit County Planning Commission's agenda. The Francis Lagoon is located at 1000 West 200 South, just southwest of Kamas.
Putt said the developers of the Francis Lagoon will be putting the project on hold as they work with the state on certain issues.
The Eastern Summit County Planning Commission will still meet in regular session on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Summit County Courthouse, 60 N. Main Street in Coalville.
