Crash snarls traffic on S.R. 248

A Kamas man was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon when the car he was driving crossed the median on State Road 248 and slammed nearly head on into a GMC pickup truck.

South Summit resident Manuel Vasquez was not wearing a seatbelt when he was thrown through a window of the Audi, Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Todd Johnson said.

"For whatever reason the Audi lost control and went into the oncoming lane," Johnson said.

The Audi collided with a westbound pickup truck driven by Wasatch County resident Clinton Page. Page complained of wrist pain and was treated and released at the scene.

"The two vehicles collided at front left quarters," Johnson said. "The driver of the Audi was partially ejected They thought he was possibly going to go fatal but when the trooper finally made it to hospital he said [Vasquez] was talking to him."

Park City Medical Center spokeswoman Amy Roberts said Vasquez was transferred to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray where he was treated and released.

The traffic accident occurred on S.R. 248 near Brown’s Canyon Road.

"It was snowing at the time," Johnson said.

Troopers are still investigating and no citations have been issued, he added.

"With all the accidents and everything Tuesday we’ve got to go through and read witness statements and make sure everything is in line before any citations are issued," Johnson said.
