Education awareness month forums continue

March is Education Awareness Month in the Park City School District. Forums are open to the pubic and community members are encouraged to come, school board president Maurice Hickey said.

March 16: Using Pre-K and after-school programs to close the achievement gap held at the Park City High School Lecture Hall at 7 p.m.

March 23: State of Education in Utah: A State Perspective from our Legislators held at the Ecker Hill Lecture Hall at 7 p.m.

Treasure Mountain seeks Community Council members

Treasure Mountain International School Community Council is looking for parents or guardians of seventh-grade students who are interested in serving on the 2011-2013 council. Nominations forms are available on the Treasure Mountain community council website and should be emailed, faxed or hand-delivered to Principal Bob O’Connor before May 18. Nominees must accept the nomination before it can be submitted. Self nominations are encouraged.

South Summit holds school-preparation forum

South Summit School District plans to hold a forum for parents who want to prepare their young children to begin schooling. The "Preparing Your Child For School" parent-meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 17 at 7 p.m. at the Elementary School.

The meeting will focus on vocabulary acquisition and expanding vocabulary in both expressive and receptive language areas.
