Fourth volleyball tourney

Park City Recreation is hosting its 25th annual July 4 doubles volleyball tournament on Wednesday. Join fellow Parkites for a day of recreation and prizes. Visit http://www.uova.com for registration information.

Soccer Tournament

The Park City men’s and women’s soccer teams will host the annual Park City Soccer Tournament the weekend of July 7-8. The teams invite the public to join them for a barbeque and exhibition game at City Park on Saturday evening. A men’s division game will be played at 6 p.m. and the Park City Women’s team will face a rival ski town team at 8 p.m. The all-you-can-eat and drink dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children under age 12. Proceeds from the barbeque will support the Park City teams.

Young Sliders

The Utah Skeleton & Bobsled Association announces the kick-off of the Young Sliders – an introductory skeleton program for youth ages 8-13. Tristan Gale, 2002 Olympic skeleton gold medalist, will be coaching participants in a series of three, two-day sessions offered July 25-26, Aug. 1-2 and Aug. 8-9 at the Utah Olympic Park. Proper sliding positioning, along with push and load techniques will be emphasized as well as basic fitness training. The cost is $20 per session, space is limited. Youth flag football

Basin recreation is offering a new youth flag football league this fall at the Field House. The league is non-contact and open to boys and girls in grades 1-6. The schedule will not conflict with the Basin Recreation fall youth soccer program or Park City High School football games. Grades 1-2 will practice on Mondays at 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. for one hour. Games will be held on Fridays at 1 p.m. or 2 p.m. Grades 3-4 will practice on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. for one hour. Games will be held on Fridays at 3 p.m. or 4 p.m. Grades 5-6 will practice on Tuesdays at 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. for one hour. Games will be held on Fridays at 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. All practices and games will be held at the Basin Recreation Field House at Newpark. The cost is $55 per player. There is a limit of 48 players per division. Each division will consist of four teams of 12 players maximum. Volunteer coaches are also needed. Those willing to coach can sign up when they register their children. Practices will start on Monday, Aug. 20 with the final game on Oct. 19 or 20.
