Guardsman Pass: no longer an option
State transportation officials have closed Guardsman Pass, the high-altitude road between Park City and Brighton, for the winter.
The road is a scenic route between the two mountain resorts that attracts sightseers in the summer and fall. Another mountainous state road, linking Park City and Midway, remains open, but the Utah Department of Transportation expects it will close for the winter after the first significant snowstorm.
The roads will reopen in the spring or summer, depending on when the snow melts.
