Jugs of fresh water arrive after tap-water warning

by Jay Hamburger, of the Record staff

People who live in the neighborhoods affected by City Hall’s water-quality advisory were picking up one-gallon jugs of water at a steady clip early Monday afternoon, just a few hours after the advisory was issued.

The jugs of water are at the Park Meadows fire station, 2388 Holiday Ranch Loop Road. Six-hundred one-gallon jugs of Mount Olympus Waters arrived in the first shipment to the fire station. The Park City Water Department said the supply would be replenished as needed.

The water was being distributed to individuals and businesses, and some people arrived at the fire station before the water was there. The Marriott Mountainside at Park City Mountain Resort picked up 64 of the jugs. The Park City Peaks Hotel also was given a large quantity.

Tom Hurd, who lives on Silver Queen Court, was given eight of the jugs. He said the water at his house is brown.

"I figured it was just the city flushing the lines . . . Apparently it’s something else," Hurd said.
