Miners win by one
November 17, 2009
Park City High School hockey coach Bruce Foster thought the Miners’ toughest game was already behind them after playing Mount Olympus Independent on Nov. 4 at the Park City Ice Arena. It was the most physical game the Miners had encountered and some players were feeling the pain for a few days afterwards.
"That was a walk in the park compared to this game," Foster said after the Miners defeated Uintah 1-0 in Vernal on Nov. 14. "The game against Uintah was so physical it was unbelievable. As a matter of fact, number 34, Zach Hable, was hit hard into the board and injured his shoulder. He was out for a good part of the game. The good news at the end of the day is that it doesn’t seem to be serious. He should be back fairly quickly."
Foster said the Miners have not been a physical team, but are learning to hit back just as hard.
"They didn’t back down," he said.
In the first and second periods, the Miners were able to keep Uintah at bay and neither team was able to score. Foster said goaltender Will Parry had a huge part in keeping the score at zero.
"Will Parry played an unbelievably great game," he said. "He really was stellar in goal."

The only goal came halfway through the third period when freshman Bryant Lo Re passed to defenseman Grey Robbins. Robbins’ shot went into the goal after ricocheting off a Uintah player. However, Uintah nearly came back with a goal of its own after the Miners received a penalty in the last two minutes of the game, leaving them one player short.
"Uintah just really, really poured it on and our guys just actually hung in there," Foster said. "This was a huge victory."
The Miners are currently tied for fifth place with UCI-South in the Southern Division with a record of 3-3-2 and a total of eight points. The Miners are only two points behind fourth-place Springville, and three points behind third-place Riverton.
The Miners will play their final game before the Thanksgiving break on Nov. 18 at 8:15 p.m. at the Park City Ice Arena against Payson. During the break, team captain Michael Foster and assistant captains Robbins and Tyler Kozole will play in a high school tournament in Salt Lake City.
