Municipal election preview

The filing deadline for Summit County municipal election candidates is within the next 24 hours. Here are the individuals who have filed thus far in all five cities.

Kamas

Mayor Lewis Marchant and Council member Diane Atkinson, both incumbents, are the only two candidates to file. The other Council seat is currently without a candidate.

Coalville

With Mayor Duane Schmidt deciding not to pursue re-election this year, the field has been opened up this year with five individuals filing for his seat. The candidates include Steven B. Richins, Merlyn W. Johnson, Trever J. Johnson, Colton Drae Burgener and Arlin B. Judd.

The candidates for the two vacant Council member seats are both new this year. They are Bob McKeehan and Cuyler Scates.

No new candidates have entered Henefer’s municipal elections yet, as mayoral incumbent Randy Ovard and Council member incumbents Kay Richins and Brent Ovard have all filed for re-election.

Francis City

Mayor R. Lee Snelgrove and Council member Michael Baldwin have applied for re-election this year, leaving one Council seat without a candidate.

Oakley

Mayoral incumbent Blake Frazier and Council member incumbents Kendall Woolstenhulme and Alton Frazier have filed for re-election. Lorrie Hoggan has filed for the vacant two-year Council member position of Les England, who left before his term expired.
