A Virginia man died while he was cross-country skiing in Park City on Tuesday, the Park City Police Department says.

According to the police, Richard R. Rust collapsed on the White Pine Touring track at about 10:10 a.m. He was with a White Pine instructor, and the instructor and then paramedics tried to revive him.

He had been visiting friends in Summit County.

Charlie Sturgis, who manages White Pine, says Rust was in an advanced-level private lesson when he collapsed. Sturgis says Rust was on White Pine’s 5-kilometer track.
