Orion’s Music reviewer talks about ‘local wonders’

Alex Henry, Contributing Record writer

For being such a small town, Park City sure has a lot of talented musicians. This is the third compilation of the Mountain Town Stages best acts from the set of summer shows they put on each year, hence the "tres." Usually when a local’s disc comes out it carries a stigma that it will be unpolished and amateur sounding. That is thankfully not the case with this set. All of the bands showcased here have some considerable skill and talent. The quality here is on par with most professional recordings, meaning it all sounds crystal clear and the production values are higher than usual for these discs. There isn’t a genre left untouched on the disc. The genres range from blues, country, bluegrass, folk to piano driven orchestral pop. Sometimes all of those styles can be on a single song. The disparate styles all scream Park City though, all the songs here have a very distinct Park City feel to them. Meaning they are for the most part easygoing mellow sit on your porch with a cold beer type songs. And really that is all you can ask for from a summer CD like this. You can find the CD at any Mountain Town Stages show or event, or at Orion’s.
