Rental car broken into, and ice and snow from a roof damages another one

On Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 4:12 p.m., the Park City Police Department received a report of someone breaking into a minivan and taking a portable DVD player.

The police say the minivan was a rental car, and it was parked on Deer Valley Drive. A window was smashed, the police say, but public police logs do not provide details about the break-in.

Meanwhile, another rental car was damaged in a different way earlier that afternoon. According to the police, ice and snow cascaded off a roof on the 1200 block of Pinnacle Court, breaking a car window when it hit.

On Sunday, Feb. 24 at 3:34 p.m., a Park City bus and a car hit each other at the Park Avenue-Empire Avenue intersection. The Police Department says nobody was injured, but the accident temporarily blocked a turn lane on Park Avenue.

At 10:01 a.m., the police received a complaint that a snowplow struck a house on Empire Avenue. The incident occurred the day before, the police say. Public police logs do not provide details about the damage.

Someone reported a computer being stolen from the 1300 block of Lowell Avenue at 7:08 a.m. The police classify the case as a felony. The value of the merchandise typically requires the police to call similar cases felonies, but public police logs do not indicate how much the computer is worth.

The police received a complaint at 12:37 a.m. of an intoxicated man trying to get into a nightclub on the 400 block of Main Street.

On Saturday, Feb. 23 at 11:47 p.m., someone called the police complaining of barking dogs on Doc Holliday Drive. They barked for more than two hours, the police were told. Officers left a warning on the front door of the house where the dogs were.

An officer wrote a driver a ticket at the Marsac Avenue-Hillside Avenue intersection at 9:45 p.m. after, according to the police, the person did not stop at a stop sign. The police say the driver did not appear to have braked at the intersection.

Two men suspected of shoplifting were seen in a restroom on the 900 block of Iron Horse Drive. Public police logs do not provide details, such as what the people reportedly took and why they were seen in a bathroom.

A hit-and-run traffic accident was reported at 1:20 p.m. on the Guardsman Connection road. The case occurred the night before, and the person did not leave a note before leaving, the police say.

A rental store in Silver Lake Village reported a theft at 8:57 a.m. Public police logs do not provide details about what was reportedly taken.

Someone contacted the police at 2:30 a.m. on Sidewinder Drive reporting a man in a dark-colored sedan might have a gun. The police were told two men and two women were in the car. Officers were unable to find the sedan.

A hit-and-run traffic accident was reported on the 1700 block of Park Avenue at 12:23 a.m.

On Friday, Feb. 22 at 5:55 p.m., a taxi driver called the police from the 1100 block of Deer Valley Drive after someone in the car reportedly yelled he has a concealed-weapons permit. There were four or five people in the taxi van, the police were told. According to the police, the driver pulled over. Public police logs do not provide details, though.

Someone told the police they lost their skis on the 2200 block of Deer Valley Drive at 9:06 a.m.

A van reportedly drove into a snow bank on Sterling Drive at 6:15 a.m. Nobody was injured, the police say.

On Thursday, Feb. 21 at 7:25 p.m., someone told the police the top of a white-colored sport utility vehicle hit ceiling of the lower level of the China Bridge parking garage on Swede Alley.

A hit-and-run traffic accident was reported on the 1300 block of Deer Valley Drive at 5:13 p.m.

A group of people ate at a restaurant on the 500 block of Main Street and then fled without paying, the police say. An officer found the group. Public police logs do not provide details, including how many people were involved and how much the bill was.

On Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 9:19 p.m., people on a roof were reportedly throwing ice and snow at cars on the 300 block of Main Street.

Someone told the police at 4:07 p.m. they found graffiti carved with a knife on the 1800 block of Kearns Boulevard. Public police logs do not provide details.

A hit-and-run traffic accident was reported on Swede Alley at 3:47 p.m.

A man slipped and fell on ice in his driveway at 11:39 a.m. on Woodside Avenue. He might have suffered a broken leg, and an ambulance took him to a Salt Lake City hospital.

The police arrested a man on a drunken-driving charge on the 900 block of Main Street at 1:18 a.m.

On Monday, Feb. 18 at 11:06 a.m. someone reported a car break-in on the 2000 block of Park Avenue. The case occurred the night before, the police were told.
