Reflecting on the past, present and future

Soaring Wings Montessori School celebrated its 25th anniversary last week. Students performed a rendition of ‘The Christmas Carol,’ by Charles Dickens. According to Soaring Wings Executive Director Duna Strachan, "The resulting story is called ‘A Winter Carol’ with students portraying their grown-up selves speculating about the past, present and future," said Executive Director of Soaring Wings Montessori School Duna Strachan. The script, music and staging were all written and directed by Strachan, who said students and faculty started brainstorming ideas in October. "We distribute scripts and start working on rehearsals, choreography, costumes, sets and props just before Thanksgiving. We like to keep it simple so students can take ownership," she said. More than 400 parents, grandparents, friends and family attended the play last Friday. "It was funny and sweet with the message echoing our school slogan of ‘Education for Peace,’" Strachan said.
