Bones found on reservoir shore

In this week’s Sheriff’s Report, a man on a boat reported he had found a child’s skeleton on the Echo Reservoir shore on Sunday, Nov. 25. Deputies responded and located the bones, identifying them as deer bones.

Also on Sunday, a Kimball Junction man was investigated for providing alcohol to minors. During an interview, the suspect confessed that he had purchased the alcohol. He was arrested and booked into jail.

A deputy smelled marijuana coming from a vehicle after he had stopped it for an equipment violation. The canine alerted the deputy to the driver’s side of the door. A search revealed marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

On Saturday, Nov. 24, a man was arrested on suspicion of DUI in Kimball Junction after performing poorly on the sobriety field tests. At the jail, the suspect was determined to have a .130 alcohol level. He also had two prior DUI convictions and was an alcohol restricted driver.

An ATV driver reported rolling his vehicle in an off-road area and nearly severed his hand. He had been attending a party with friends at an East Summit County residence and had walked back home after the accident, after which he was driven to the hospital. A female passenger was not injured and alcohol did not appear to be involved.

A stop for an equipment violation on I-80 revealed the driver had an active warrant. He was placed under arrest and booked into the Summit County Jail.

On Friday, Nov. 23, a handgun was found in a Kimball Junction store.

Deputies arrived to a reported domestic violence incident in progress. When they arrived, they discovered it was only a verbal argument, but one of the individuals present was on alcohol-restricted probation and was intoxicated, and was subsequently put on a 72-hour hold.

A traffic stop on S.R. 224 revealed two active warrants on the passenger, who was subsequently arrested and booked into jail.

On Thursday, Nov. 22, deputies responded to a domestic violence report along S.R. 32. A male was discovered to have a warrant and was booked into jail. A female was cited for domestic violence assault and issued a no-contact order.

A South Summit store employee found items in a car that were not paid for. Store employees detained the suspect until a deputy arrived and took the suspect to the Summit County Jail.

A juvenile male was observed by a Kimball Junction employee stealing merchandise. When contact was made, the item was recovered and the suspect was referred to Juvenile Court.

On Wednesday, Nov. 21, a Basin woman discovered damage to a vehicle she had parked on the street overnight. The rear passenger window was broken, and a Nook and DVD player had been taken.

A Kimball Junction man reported someone had broken into his unlocked vehicle overnight and taken a large amount of equipment.

Deputies responded to a burglary in progress at a Basin home. The homeowner reportedly came home to find someone pulling out of his driveway and pulling away. His front door was allegedly kicked in or pried open. There were no suspects, as of Thursday.

Deputies found marijuana inside a vehicle in Summit Park after responding to a parking complaint. The owner admitted to the possession, and was subsequently arrested and booked into jail.

A deputy assisted the Park City Police Department with a traffic violation in Kimball Junction, when a warrant was discovered. The driver was arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail.

On Tuesday, Nov. 20, a man with a revoked driver’s license was pulled over on I-80. He did not have an ignition interlock device, as was required. He was taken into custody and his vehicle was impounded.

Deputies responded to a parking problem on Old Ranch Road. Construction workers were asked to park on one side or the other side of the road, but not on both sides.

A deputy stopped a driver on S.R. 224 for illegal lane travel, and smelled marijuana. A probable search of the vehicle revealed a personal amount of marijuana inside the passenger’s clothes. The passenger was arrested and booked into jail.

A South Summit man reported two female acquaintances entered his residence, taking a laptop, coins and other property. When confronted, the females allegedly admitted their actions to him personally and through text message.

On Monday, Nov. 19, deputies received information that a man with several warrants was working at a local ski resort. When the deputies arrived, they saw the suspect. The deputies took him into custody at the top of the run.

Deputies made a traffic stop on S.R. 224 for an active warrant. When deputies searched the driver, they found two hollowed out plastic pens with black residue. The pens were melted on both ends. The suspect admitted to smoking marijuana out of the pens, and he was subsequently booked into the Summit County Jail for possession of paraphernalia and an active warrant.

A deputy was about to transport a man from the Summit County jail to Salt Lake City when the man started fighting with him. He was eventually placed into handcuffs by other deputies.
