Wasatch Powder Keg race

On March 12, Brighton Ski Resort will host the 9th Annual Wasatch Powder Keg backcountry race. The Powder Keg is a test of speed, strength, and endurance for any backcountry skier. The race will have captivating views of Heber Valley , Mt Nebo, Mt Timpanogos, and the Cottonwood Canyons. The race division will cover nine miles and have five climbs for a little over 5,000 feet of climbing. The Recreational division will cover 6.5 miles and have four climbs for 3,500 feet of climbing. Within each division there will be categories for male/female and AT/Tele. There will be an offer of a co-ed split board category in the Recreation Division. Dryland training program

The Park City Racquet Club is offering a new fitness program that will give participants personal training attention in a group setting. Dryland Training program is a six-week program that will increase muscular endurance, balance and body awareness all while preparing for summer. Winter II junior session

Park City Recreation would like to invite all junior tennis players to join the Winter Two tennis session. Programs are offered for children ages 5 through 17, all skill levels available. Learn tennis through the USTA Quickstart program that is becoming the leading method of instruction for young players. The most recent session began Monday, Feb. 28. Free guided snowshoe hike

Join Basin Recreation, as they guide willing participants through its vast trail system during guided snowshoe hikes. Trail conditions may vary, snowshoes, yak tracks or boots may be sufficient. The hike is scheduled for Saturday, March 26 at 10 a.m. at the UOP Trail. The designated meeting area is at The Park City Community Church

WSS Sports Cup at UOP

The second annual WSS Sports Cup at the Utah Olympic Park will benefit The Winter Sports School Scholarship Fund. Events will include a reception and ski auction on Friday, March 11, from 7 to 9 p.m. at UOP’s Joe Quinney Center ($75 per person) and on Saturday, March 12, at UOP the WSS Sports Cup Ski Race for all ages and abilities from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a BBQ from 1 to 3 p.m. ($35 for the race and BBQ). Silver Mountain Sports Club offers Triathlon Training

Silver Mountain Sports Club & Spa will be running an eight-week triathlon training program began Feb. 28 for both first time and seasoned triathletes. USA Triathlon coach Sarah Dunlap will be holding three weekly 75-minute training sessions at SMSC focusing on swimming, cycling, running and strength training. Additional self-directed workouts and an online-tracking program will be part of the conditioning program. At the end of the session participants will be able to challenge themselves at Silver Mountain’s first annual Indoor Sprint Triathlon on April 23. The triathlon training program is open to the public, the eight-week training program including the 24-workout sessions and coaching is $300 for SMSC members, $450 for nonmembers.
