Still open on lower Main Street, even through construction
July 15, 2011
A few businesses on lower Main Street are more difficult to access, a result of repairs that are underway to the concrete on the Marriott Summit Watch plaza.
Kurt Simister, a Park City Building Department official, said water was leaking between concrete slabs, requiring the work. Simister says City Hall has received complaints from the businesses. He says, though, access to the plaza remains within what is required by building codes.
Two staircases to the plaza as well as the pedestrian bridge spanning Main Street have been temporarily closed.
City Hall allowed two banners to be hung advertising that the businesses are open. The banners would normally not be allowed by City Hall, he says.
Linda Littell, the owner of Coda Gallery, which is situated at the Summit Watch, says the work is hurting sales since it is more difficult to reach the gallery.
"This is our prime summertime, our prime money-making time," she says.
