According to the Summit County Attorney’s Office, the following cases were heard on June 8 in the Third District Court at the Summit County Justice Center:

Walter M. Dobson, 69, of Staten Island, New York, entered a plea of guilty to attempted possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a Class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence and a $5,000 fine. That sentence was stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 12 months and ordered the defendant to pay a $5,000 fine, serve 30 days of home confinement, and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Matthew Don Hansen, 39, of Fruit Heights, entered a plea of guilty to attempted purchase, transfer, possession or use of a firearm by restricted person, a Class A misdemeanor, and attempted possession or use of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence and a $2,500 fine for attempted purchase, transfer, possession or use of a firearm by a restricted person, and a one-year jail sentence and a $2,500 fine for attempted possession or use of a controlled substance. The sentences are to run concurrent to each other. Those sentences were stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 24 months and ordered the defendant to serve nine days in jail with credit for nine days served, complete 24 hours of community service, and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Jenifer Lynn Juergens, 24, of Midvale, entered a plea of guilty to theft, a Class B misdemeanor. Credit was given for time served and the defendant is now serving a sentence at the Utah State Prison.

Jesse E. Thrasher, 24, of Park City, entered a no contest plea to violation of condition for release after arrest for misdemeanor domestic violence, a Class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence and a $5,000 fine. That sentence was stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 12 months and ordered the defendant to serve three days in jail, pay a $500 fine, and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Cameron Lee Branch, 43, of Salt Lake City, was sentenced for the offense of aggravated assault, a third-degree felony. The court imposed an indeterminate term of not to exceed five years in prison and a $5,000 fine. That sentence was stayed and the court placed the defendant on supervised probation for 36 months and ordered the defendant to serve 53 days with credit granted for time served, pay restitution as ordered, and complete other standard terms and conditions.
