According to the Summit County Attorney's Office, the following cases were heard on Monday, Nov. 7, in 3rd District Court at the Summit County Justice Center:

Thomas M. Degroot, 41, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, entered a guilty plea to attempted possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a Class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence. That sentence was stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 18 months, ordered him to pay a $4,750 fine and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Wendy Michelle Berry-Bernam, 45, of Park City, entered a guilty plea to retail theft, a third-degree felony. The court imposed a zero-to-five year sentence at the Utah State Prison and a $5,000 fine. That sentence was stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 24 months, ordered her to complete 50 hours of community service, pay a $1,000 fine and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Lyle Trent Lythgoe, 40, of Eagle Mountain, entered into a six-month plea in abeyance to attempted obstruction of justice, a Class A misdemeanor. The court ordered the defendant to pay a $350 fine and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Thomas E. Wilson, 69, of Oak Park, Illinois, entered a guilty plea to attempted purchase, transfer, possession or use of a firearm by a restricted person, a Class A misdemeanor, and possession or use of a controlled substance, a Class B misdemeanor. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence and a $3,000 fine. That sentence was stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 18 months, ordered him to pay a $1,500 fine and complete other standard terms and conditions.
