According to the Summit County Attorney's Office, the following cases were heard on Monday, Oct. 31, in 3rd District Court at the Summit County Justice Center:

David Richard Alpers, 48, of Samak, entered into a 24-month plea in abeyance to aggravated assault, a third-degree felony. The court ordered the defendant to complete 10 hours of community service each week and other standard terms and conditions.

Scott A. Bilquist, 29, of Gladstone, Missouri, entered a guilty plea to possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a third-degree felony. The court imposed a zero-to-five year sentence at the Utah State Prison. That sentence was stayed and the court imposed a 50-day jail sentence with credit for one day served, placed the defendant on court probation for 24 months and ordered him to complete other standard terms and conditions.

Graham Harter, 23, of Park City, entered into an 18-month plea in abeyance to theft, a Class A misdemeanor. The court ordered the defendant to complete 25 hours of community service, pay a $400 fee and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Butch Harris Luffman, 38, of Heber City, entered a guilty plea to domestic violence assault, a Class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence. That sentence was stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation 24-months, ordered him to serve 180 days in jail with credit for 109 days served and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Jaime Martin Suarez, 21, of Park City, entered a guilty plea to attempted unlawful possession, purchase or transfer of a dangerous weapon, a Class B misdemeanor, and possession or use of drug paraphernalia, a Class B misdemeanor. The court imposed a 180-day jail sentence and a $1,000 fine for each count. Those sentences were stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 12 months, ordered him to serve 20 days in jail with credit for 20 days served and complete other standard terms and conditions.

Brittanie Leigh Reese, 24, of Heber, was sentenced for the offense of child abuse/neglect, a Class A misdemeanor. The court imposed a one-year jail sentence and a $2,500 fine. That sentence was stayed and the court placed the defendant on court probation for 18 months, ordered the defendant to pay a $150 recoupment fee and complete other standard terms and conditions.

William Lloyd Thornock, 36, of Evanston, Wyoming, was sentenced for the offense of burglary, a third-degree felony. The court imposed a zero-to-five year sentence at the Utah State Prison and a $5,000 fine. That sentence was stayed and the court imposed a 60-day jail sentence with credit for two days served, placed him supervised probation for 36 months and ordered he complete other standard terms and conditions.
