Sundance films get wide-release this month

Films from the 2008 and 2007 Sundance Film Festivals will be released this month, including Martin McDonagh’s "In Bruges," Michel Gondry’s "Be Kind Rewind" and George A. Romero’s "Diary of the Dead." Brett Morgen’s opening film for 2007’s festival, "Chicago 10," will also open.

On the stage on Broadway at the end of February, the Sundance-supported play "Passing Strange," will open.

Contribute to outdoor exploration

The Norwegian Outdoor Exploration Center is seeking volunteers to help run its office, computers, Web site, newsletter and mailing lists. The Norwegian Outdoor Exploration Center’s new office is located in Oakley, but much can be done at home. Time commitment could be a few hours a week or for life. How to ‘live the heart life’

The Spotted Frog Café and Wine Bar will host a group of authors talking about how to take a step out of the hard life and start ‘Living the Heart Life’ on Feb. 23 at 4:30 p.m. The Spotted Frog Café and Wine Bar is located at 1635 W. Redstone Center Drive near Kimball Junction.

Auditions change for ‘Altar Boyz’

The Egyptian Theatre Company in Park City has changed the location of auditions for "Altar Boyz" on Feb 26 from 6-10 p.m. The auditions are now at the Utah Opera Space located at 336 N 400 W in Salt Lake City. The March 2 from 11-2 p.m. is still at the Egyptian Theatre Company (328 Main Street in Park City). Auditioners should come prepared with 16 to 20 bar of an up-tempo boy band song or contemporary pop rock. Be prepared to dance if asked, stapled picture and resume, positive attitude a must. Callbacks will be held March 2 from 2:30-5:30 p.m. at the Egyptian Theatre. Call Theatre to reserve an audition time at (435) 649-9371. The Production opens June 27 and runs thru Aug. 2.

Attention watercolorists: call for entries

The Utah Watercolor Society’s 2008 Spring Open Exhibition is calling for entries by April 1 on CDs or e-mail (no slides). The Spring Open Show will open May 15 with a reception at the Palmers Gallery of Fine Art at 378 WEST BROADWAY in Salt Lake City, Utah. This exhibition will continue until June 14, 2008. The show is open to all water media artists who presently reside in the State of Utah. Participants are limited to a total of three entries. The juror is Jean Grastorf, Signature Member of both the American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society. Grastorf will also conduct a weeklong watercolor workshop prior to the opening.
