Want to meet Kyle Korver?
November 6, 2009
In exchange for helping a child stay warm this winter, NBA star Kyle Korver will sign autographs for Utah Jazz fans.
Patti Balli, community relations director for the Jazz, said any fan who donates a new coat, with the tag still attached, at Saturday’s night game against the Sacramento Kings will receive a voucher for two people to attend a private postgame autograph session with Jazz guard Kyle Korver. No photographs with Korver can be taken due to time constraints, she said. The game begins at 7 p.m. at the Energy Solutions Arena in Salt Lake City, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.
Coats in all sizes, from infant to extra, extra large adult sizes, are needed for the children. The coats will be given to the Salt Lake Education Foundation and the Utah Dream Center to be donated to children.
This is the second year the Utah Jazz have hosted the coat drive, Balli said. Last year they collected more than 800 new coats. She said Korver approached the Jazz and asked if he could continue the coat drive, something he began in Philadelphia.
Korver was traded to the Jazz in 2007. He played in one preseason game but has not played in the regular season due to injury. Balli said he appears to be recovering well from a knee surgery he had Oct. 27.
