What ever happened to Devil's Night?

Editor:

I am so disappointed in our younger generation. I awoke on Friday morning to discover that not one single pumpkin was smashed anywhere on my street!

It gets worse. The summer of 2013 came and went and no houses were toilet papered, no door bell ditching, no night games.

What is happening to our youth? Will these American traditions be lost forever? Maybe this is the unintended consequence of keeping our children "safe" at Trunk or Treat, whatever that is.

Youth athletes benefit from Jans Winter Welcome generosity

Editor:

On behalf of the Youth Sports Alliance and the local children that we serve, I would like to thank the community for its support of the 33rd Annual JANS Winter Welcome! This magical evening was a great success all due to the support of our businesses, sponsors, winter sports teams, volunteers and donors.

Foremost, a huge thank-you to our attendees who gave generously of their time and resources to support our cause. Thank you also to our sponsors: JANS, Deer Valley, Canyons, Park City Mountain Resort, Rossignol, Smith Optics, Marmot, Marker, Montage, Wasatch Powderbird Guides, Whole Foods, and Las Vegas Sands Corporation, who underwrote the cost of the event so that all the funds raised throughout the evening went directly to support our mission. Thank you all for your generosity!

The lifeblood of our event is our volunteers from the winter sports teams we support and from the community at large to you I extend my deepest gratitude for your hard work and diligence! We at the Alliance are pleased to help get our kids active and involved in winter sports!

School district must lead

Park City School District is being investigated by the federal Office of Civil Rights for persistent and ongoing violations. It’s a very big deal that has a lot of our community on edge.
