The Park City Police Department last week continued to receive reports of people atop or close to the Masonic water tank off the Aerie, the latest in a series of cases in recent weeks. The tank is located off Mellow Mountain Road and is accessible from a nearby trail.

The cases last week included:

  • on Saturday, April 19 at 8:06 p.m., four people were seen on the tank.

  • on April 19 at 3:16 p.m., two people were seen on the tank.

  • on April 19 at 12:10 p.m. an unspecified number of people were seen at the site.

  • on Friday, April 18 at 2:07 p.m., two people were seen on the tank

  • on Thursday, April 17 at 7:06 p.m., two people were seen on the tank. Three others were headed there, the police said.

  • on April 17 at 4:11 p.m., an unspecified number of people were seen atop or close to the tank. Earlier that day, at 2:24 p.m., three people were seen on the tank.

  • on Wednesday, April 16 at 6:33 p.m., police dispatchers monitoring a surveillance camera saw two people on the tank.

  • on Tuesday, April 15 at 2:45 p.m., two people, appearing to be a man and a youngster, were seen picnicking and dancing at the site. It was not clear from public police logs whether they were on the tank itself or close to the facility.

  • on Monday, April 14 at 10:59 p.m., several people were seen on the tank.

  • on April 14 at 7:40 p.m., four people were seen on the tank.

The Police Department typically handles the cases as trespassing, and people found on the tank are usually warned.

The cases last week followed nearly 20 similar ones recently. Park City officials say people enjoy the views from atop the tank. They also warn that people are prohibited from the site.
