The tour, which has visited Deer Valley, Quarry Mountain, Sun Peak, Promontory, Deer Crest and Red Cloud, will take place at the Colony at White Pine Canyon this year on Saturday, Aug. 9.

Advance tickets for $60 can be purchased by visiting http://www.luxuryhometour.org . Tickets can also be purchased the day of the tour for $65 at Canyons’ Cabriolet parking lot.

The tour will run from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. The busses will begin shuttling tourists to the Colony beginning at 8 a.m. The last bus will leave the parking lot at 3 p.m.

"There will be five homes on the tour, and people who come on the tour should plan on spending about an hour in each home, if they have that kind of time," said

Sandra Vogt, luxury home tour chairwoman. "Some people just love to come see these homes and dream of what they would put in their homes."

All the homes on the tour are privately owned.

"These generous homeowners open up their homes to the public for one day and let everyone walk through," Vogt said. "Everything is the way these homeowners live. You can see family photos and how they live their different lifestyles. And everyone on the tour will learn about the homes’ architects, builders and the interior designers."

Since the tour does allow tourists to enter and explore these homes in up-scale neighborhoods, the Park City Board of Realtors have established some rules.

  • Everyone must wear booties, whether or not they are able to go barefoot or not
  • No bottled water
  • No children younger than 12
  • No pets

"I have knocked on many doors to find neighborhoods that will host the tour," Vogt said. "I tell the owners that their homes would have a beautiful presence in the home tour and that there is something special about them. I also reassure the homeowners that we will come in and look at their homes and leave everything the way we found them."

In addition to giving tourists an opportunity to see these homes, the Park City Board of Realtors’ Luxury Home Tour is a fundraiser for Peace House, a nonprofit organization dedicated to stopping domestic violence in Summit and Wasatch counties.

"This is a way for the Park City Board of Realtors to give something back to our community," Vogt said. "All the money raised through ticket sales will be used to keep Peace House’s doors open. Throughout the past 23 years we have raised more than $1 million for Peace House."

In addition to the tour itself, the ticket price includes a barbecue lunch that includes pulled pork, chicken, potato salad and coleslaw, according to Vogt.

"We also will be having live entertainment," she said.

As tourists approach each home, they will be greeted with classical music performed by music students from the University of Utah and other schools.

"They will play violins, harps and classical guitars, which will get participants into the mood for these wonderful houses," Vogt said. "Then during lunch, we will present Austin Wolfe."

Wolfe, a Park City resident, was a contestant on last season’s "American Idol."

"This will be a fun event," promised Vogt.

Each year, people ask Vogt if she will run out of homes to show.

"There is never a lack of homes to show. Luxury-home development continues in Park City," Vogt said. "And since we started doing this, we have doubled and tripled our attendance over the years.

"We even get a lot of Salt Lake people who come up as well and the tour has become a tradition for them," she said. "They come enjoy the tour and then attend a concert at Canyons."
