A fifth-grade teacher at Parley's Park Elementary is facing felony charges for alleged possession of child pornography.

According to a statement of probable cause filed Monday in 3rd District Court, police found several child porn files during a search of the residence of Jose Ardanaz Ezcurdia, 31. Ezcurdia, who is not a United States citizen and is in the country on a student visa, was arrested Saturday and booked into the Summit County Jail.

Ezcurdia admitted to officers to possessing child porn, according to the statement. He is charged with five second-degree felony counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

A press release from the Park City School District states the district learned about Ezcurdia's arrest on Monday and placed him under suspension. The district will be performing an internal investigation "to determine if there is any illegal content on district-owned (or issued) technology."

Ezcurdia, who court documents say was also involved in local Boy Scouts programs, taught in the dual language program at the elementary school, according to the district release.

An initial appearance in court for Ezcurdia is scheduled for Aug. 18.
