PARK CITY STORIES


An audio project inspired by Park City's 125th birthday brought to you by The Park Record, KPCW and The Kimball Art Center


Thirty years ago Father Pat Carley, then pastor of St. Marys Catholic Church convinced his parrish to sponsor a pair of Vietnamese refugees and on a cold winter s night 15-year-old Ying Houang and her brother Va arrived at the Salt Lake Airport. This week Ying and Father Carley shared some of their memories with Park Record editor Nan Chalat Noaker.





It s been eight years since the Olympics came to Park City and at the time Tom Bakaly was assistant city manager and his son Henry was just a toddler. As they explain, the Olympics created lasting memories for their family. Interview by Park Record Editor Nan Chalat-Noaker.

It didn't take Kathy Whalen Jones 24 hours before she decided to make Park City home. It was December of 1979 when she lost her job at Alta and was on her way home to Minnesota...but not before stopping in Park City. Interview by KPCW News Director Leslie Thatcher.





When Greg Schirf arrived in Park City began looking for a job that he could put his heart into, he started Utah's first microbrewery. Interview by Park Record Editor Nan Chalat-Noaker.
