"I am confident that what we are dealing with here is a murder-suicide," said Summit County Sheriff Dave Edmunds on Sunday evening. The victims' families live out of the state, he said.
A friend of the two individuals alerted the Sheriff's Department at about 1:15 Sunday afternoon. Edmunds said the caller became concerned when he had not heard from them and stopped by the house where he discovered the bodies in the garage. Each died from a single gunshot wound to the head, which may have occurred Saturday night. However, Edmunds said it was too early in the investigation to say who fired the weapon, a large caliber handgun.
"It is a very tragic scene here this evening," he added.
The house where the shootings occurred is located on State Road 32 near River Road. Edmunds said the pair had lived together in the home but he did not know if both still lived there. "It looks like a domestic incident," he said without elaborating.
