Sundance Institute Summer Film Series: 'Little Miss Sunshine'
The Sundance Institute will present a free screening of Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris' 2006 comedy-drama, "Little Miss Sunshine," rated R, at Canyons Resort on Friday, Aug. 23, at dusk. The film, starring Greg Kinnear, Steve Carrell and Toni Collette, is about a family determined to get their young daughter into the finals of a beauty pageant who take a cross-country trip in their VW bus. 'For the Next 7 Generations' Film Screening and Discussion
The Shop Yoga Studio, 1167 Woodside Ave., will host a screening of the film "For the Next 7 Generations" on Saturday, Aug. 24, at 6:30 p.m. "For the Next 7 Generations" follows 13 indigenous grandmothers and documents what happens when these wise women unite. There will be a discussion with Mona Polacca, one of the grandmothers and a member of many United Nations committees that focus on indigenous people and water conservation issues. Tickets are $10 in advance at brownbagtickets.com. Tickets will be $15 at the door. All proceeds will benefit the International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers. Friends of the Park City Library Annual Book Sale
The Friends of the Park City Library will host its annual used book sale at the library, 1255 Park Ave., from Saturday, Aug. 31, through Monday, Sept. 2.
